Programs and Projects: Strategic Meeting, Conference & Exhibit Management

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) International Munitions Symposium

TKOS was awarded the conference planning and management of the biennial "International Symposium on Interaction of the Effects of Munitions with Structures” (ISIEMS).  The event was held in 2007 in Orlando, FL.  The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the German Defense Ministry hosted this international event attended by more than 300 people to discuss the effects of munitions and weaponry on a variety of military and civilian structures.  Discussions focused on potential damage to structures, buildings, storehouses, and personnel bunkers.  The symposium included both NATO and non-NATO participants.

TKOS was highly praised by symposium organizers and attendees for an “exceptional conference” and the “best-run meeting ever.”

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Biodefense Research Conference

TKOS was awarded the conference planning and management of the “2008 Biodefense Research Conference” (BRC) in Philadelphia, PA.  The BRC was a project of the Joint Science and Technology Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JSTO-CBD) under the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).  The BRC included participation by more than 300 scientists, physicians, and other professionals working in the biological defense field.

TKOS received very positive feedback from conference organizers and attendees, complimenting TKOS for the “seamless manner” in which the conference was managed.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) “All Hands Meeting”

TKOS was awarded the conference planning and management of the National Technology Centers for Networks and Pathways (TCNP) “All Hands Meeting” held in Bethesda, MD in 2008.  The event was a project of the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  NCRR provides support and information-sharing to clinical and translational researchers and connects researchers to one another, as well as to patients and communities across the country.

TKOS received accolades from conference organizers and attendees for its performance, and was recognized at the closing session for a “job well done.”  Based on its past performance, TKOS continues, on an ongoing basis, to plan and manage NCRR meetings held in the Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as outside the region.

"Excellence Program Phase II” Conference

TKOs was awarded a contract for meeting planning and support in connection with the 2007 “Excellence Program Phase II” conference held in Las Vegas, NV.   The conference was sponsored by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), an affiliate of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  The three-day conference involved 50 senior-level officials from federal, state, and local corrections systems.  The purpose of the conference was to share best practices, policies, and operational procedures affecting various facets of the corrections institutions.

TKOS received strong, positive feedback from conference organizers and attendees.  Conference organizers praised us for doing an outstanding job in planning and coordinating the conference, particularly given the fact that we were given only three weeks to plan and manage the event, including identifying and contracting for an appropriate venue.

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Exhibit Display

TKOS was awarded a contract to further enhance awareness of the mission of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) by designing a 20 x 20 modular display.  In addition, we designed a 10 x 10 display to be used in smaller venues or in combination with the 20 x 20 display.  The display was rolled out at the July 2008 NAACP convention held in Cincinnati, OH, with then-President Bush, former President Clinton, then-Senator Obama, Senator McCain, and then-Senator Clinton in attendance.

TKOS successfully designed and managed the display.  TKOS received strong, positive feedback from conference organizers and attendees.  Conference organizers praised us for doing an outstanding job planning and coordinating the exhibit display, especially given the limited time available for preparation (a month and a half).  The Director of DTRA congratulated us on “a job well done” and remarked that it was “the best display he had seen in a long time.”
